The meeting was mostly about our next compititon and how we’re going to prepare for it. Alex is controling the IR remote for autonomus time. Kyle is driving and Max is controling the arm. We’re are helping team 341 in the Gears and Girls program with the Gril Scouts. Christina, Nikki, and Jacki will be participating. Everyone else on the team will help out with stragy, or pit crew. Remember the competition date is 11/08/08. If you want to go to  the competition we will be car pooling from the robotics shop at 6:00am. The opening ceromonies are at 8:30.  After we went over that, we broke into subteams. The drivers alo did some practice. Alex tried his best and did very well with the IR, and Kyle is getting better at steering. Over all it was a good meeting.

Brunswick Eruption Wrap-Up

We went to our first pre-season event.  It gave a few of our new team members a peek into competition.  Although we did not win we did very well for all new drivers.  The team members ran the pits and team selection process on their own for the most part.  We were seeded #12 in a field of 35 and we were chosen in the #3 alliance.  We won our 1/4 final match but was beaten in the semi-finals by the team that went on to win the tournament.  Great job team.  Also very positive for this event we helped a couple of teams during the competition Team #1075 and team #75.  Team #1075 came down from Toronto, Canada and I think that Josh is an honorary team member.

Thanks to Steve, Kinsuk, Lee, Dave P., and Rich for showing up and supporting the team.  And a very special thank you to the mentors and parents that were there for the day: Dave M, Ken, Roy, Mr. Stout, Mrs. Ingram, Mrs. Gensey, Mr. Colon, Mr. Daileda.  And I’m very sorry about the mix up but thank you very much Mr. Freckleton

We are now preparing for our next pre-season event.  All those going to Ramp Riot next weekend will meet this Tuesday at 5pm. This meeting will be used to set up car pooling as well as team assignments for the event.  A few of the girls will be participating in the Girls in Gears (Girl Scout program).

Girls in Gear

We just wanted to inform everyone about an exciting new program that is taking place at Ramp Riot 2008 this year.

It is called, “Girls in Gear” and is a program designed just for the Girl Scouts of America and approved by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. Girls will have a chance to learn about high tech careers, engineering concepts and will also have the chance to drive a competition robot in a supervised setting.
Participating girls will receive a specially designed event patch, as well as other gifts. Area GSA troops and individual Girl Scouts will be participating in this exciting new program.

We currently have 20 scouts with a limit of 100.

We are currently seeking :
1) Role model women, in scientific or technological careers, to speak to the Girl Scouts about careers in these fields.
2) Girls on current FRC or FTC teams to act as tour guides or demonstrators.

3) Help to advertise this event to Girl Scouts through any appropriate GSA contact network that is available. (event flyer is attached)

If you can help, please reply to 341robotics@gmail.com or use the contact information on the attached flyer. The program will run on November 8th at Wissahickon HS between the hours of 9:30 and 11:30 AM.

Help us to inspire a generation of girls to be excited about Math, Science, and Technology.

Team 2016 went to the 125th birthday picnic for the Marie Katzenbach School for the Deaf. Team 2016 was out again spreading the word of our team and FIRST robotics. Since  we operate out of the school’s workshop, we wanted to entice more of their to students join in our team. Two students from Katzenbach  have already joined. They were there to encourage their classmates.

Here’s some pictures that I took there.

T-shirt launching robot

•October 5, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Hello everyone.

I just wanted to send this out because a few students and a few very dedicated mentors (Roy, Ken, Lee, Dave M) worked very late last night.  They completed our first t-shirt launching robot.  We will be using it tonight to launch t-shirts into the stands at our home football game 7pm.
